I grew up with Irish folklore, Lord of the Rings, and X-Men comics as my bedtime stories, but I am also a domestic violence survivor twice over with c-PTSD. I was never able to get justice for anyone who hurt me. I created my stories as a way to cope and understand my feelings and triggers by making them their own personalities. So, I made my trauma available for everyone in a fantasy setting with two love interests to adore the heroine who had to endure so much but never gave up on giving people someone to root for when they couldn’t for themselves anymore.
I can not recommend this series more. I absolutely love Kate Daniels's post-post-apocalyptic world of Sifters and Vampires. The magic system is so creative and not so blatant like some urban fantasies.
I personally loved the idea that this era of urban fantasies took off with the “The world ended, and now this is what became of society” trope; it became a huge influence on me and my own world-building.

Not only did I laugh with her, but I found her personality to be charming and endearing. Her personal growth in the book is what makes you cheer her on as she learns more and more about herself and the journey she takes. Another split realm recommendation! I loved every second of this spicy, enemies-to-lovers, magical book! The worldbuilding is next level, and I was transported to the world with vicious faeries. Lark is one of three sisters that have crossed the borders into the faerie world. Lark is sent to the mountain to the fae who rules over the sky. The journey up the mountain and Lark’s personality made me laugh and cheer her on. Lark is hilarious, witty, free-spirited, and doesn’t let her fear get the best of her. She’s inventive, always finding a way out of tough situations. I love the dynamic between Lark and her two other sisters, and who doesn’t love a found family? Ultimately, Lark’s story is captivating, compelling, and I highly recommend!

They are my Albany family, and we all still meet up at least twice a year no matter that we all live across the country. The bonds we created as we figured out who each of us was, are still strong to this day. I write stories that contain those same elements so everyone can experience the joys and tribulations of these bonds.

To what they have no freaking idea. I was so thankful that the whole series was out when I started to read Nova’s story. It was a quick enjoyable read for a weekend that I needed to escape without leaving the house.
After stepping through the portal Nova creates a bond with two other friends that make you want to visit this world. Except for the world ending and fighting an endless war. You can’t help but root for them and hope they can figure out a way to save everyone.

I love to get lost in a book. Ever since I was a child I’ve spent my spare time curled up in a chair engrossed in a book. Stories have taken me to far off places, magical worlds, back in time, and forward into the future. Stories have taught me more about history, shown me that other people have the same problems as me, and given me the knowledge and confidence to make the decisions I’ve made. Stories are important, and to me there is nothing better than a story that reels you into its world and makes you forget all about your problems for a while.
I love stories of adventure set in alternative magical worlds and was enchanted by this one. The world building is incredible with a wealth of interesting characters and a riveting plot. The writing is so beautiful and evocative it sang from the pages.
The protagonist of the story is Zarya who has been trained to fight but forbidden to use her magic by her guardian, who has kept her a virtual prisoner by a magical force that won’t allow her to venture far. One day she breaks free and goes in search of the truth of her past and is swept into an adventure with demons, dark magic and romance.
A real escapist read inspired by Indian mythology and culture. It’s the first of a quartet so I can’t wait to read the rest.
