I am a lifelong reader and now a writer of Paranormal Romance and have been reading Fantasy and Paranormal Romance for the last 25 years. I can not get enough of the world-building and character development that goes into them. Now, as a writer, I love to explore powerful kick-ass female main characters and hot alpha werewolves.
I have not read this book in ages, but I would read it over again in a second. The MC Rachel is a kick-ass paranormal bounty hunter reining in the law-breaking supernature creatures for a government agency. I love the humor and her interactions with the secondary characters, and they only get better as the series goes on. The relationship between demon Al and Rachel is an especially fun one, though book one is just Al’s introduction.
*Note: Last I heard, the kindle edition has formatting & editing issues not present in the hard copy I read.
From New York Times bestselling author, Kim Harrison, comes the first book in an exciting urban fantasy series; packed with the perfect balance of wry humour and thrilling action, which will delight fans of thrillers and fantasy alike.

We all know SJM can spin an incredible tale, but this book takes a little bit to get into when you first start. Hold on through the set-up of MC Bryce Quinlan’s world and you will be richly rewarded in the end. Bryce is a headstrong, sarcastic woman who hasn’t had it easy, despite the fact that she’s the daughter of the fae Autumn King. Seeing Bryce finally come into her own and find someone who loves every bit of her sass keeps me waiting on the edge of my seat for each new installment of this series.
Sarah J. Maas's brand-new CRESCENT CITY series begins with House of Earth and Blood: the story of half-Fae and half-human Bryce Quinlan as she seeks revenge in a contemporary fantasy world of magic, danger, and searing romance.
Bryce Quinlan had the perfect life-working hard all day and partying all night-until a demon murdered her closest friends, leaving her bereft, wounded, and alone. When the accused is behind bars but the crimes start up again, Bryce finds herself at the heart of the investigation. She'll do whatever it takes to avenge their deaths.
The MC Mercy is not only headstrong and independent, she has a wicked sense of humor which is all the more evident when she is interreacting with her divorced werewolf neighbor Adam. There are a ton of subplots and action that allow us to see that she is smart and cunning and puts her deductive reasoning skills on display. There is a reason that this book series is considered the quintessential introduction to the werewolf genre.
