Why read it?
11 authors picked Halfway to the Grave as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?
Good lord, Kat simply dominates when she enters a scene.
She leaves no room for argument with all her decisions (some of them bad, some of them good) or dialogue, and even in moments where you’re screaming at her or she’s second-guessing herself, she grounds herself in her resolve and pushes forward.
Plus, Bones is swoon-worthy, and she still honors her own feels in the presence of his…well…everything, haha. I also love her evolution through the Night Huntress series and how her viewpoint toward vampires and paranormals shifts in a way that suits her character development. Also the spice? Heck.…

Enough of heroes! Let’s talk strong, kick-butt heroines like Cat Crawfield from the Night Huntress Series.
Uniquely half-human, half-vampire, Cat is actually a vampire hunter in this series starter. ’Course circumstances drastically change when she’s captured by one of the enemy.
The smoldering vampire, Bones, lo and behold, is actually a good guy. After some intense battling, these two end up becoming partners. They begin to train together, which leads to my favorite part—Cat and Bones are absolutely combustible.
Their passion is off the charts.

I’ve been telling you about the main female character, so far, but for this one, I have to talk about Bones.
Oh, how I love Bones. My favorite line of his, when someone has to be told about vampires, and told that Bones is one, is, “Ask me if I sparkle and I’ll kill you where you stand.”
I also love that Jeaniene Frost gave us Cat and Bones’ full story in the Night Huntress series, and then gives us a bunch of PNR books in the same universe, so the other characters in their series also find their HEA.

A vampire world once again. Cat Crawfield is a human/vampire hybrid who meets her match in a British vampire, “Bones,” who hunts his own kind. Simply said, I love Bones. He’s a man of contradictions in one body—snarky with no shame, cold-hearted as needed, but would die for the ones he loves. I’d take him home in an instant if I could gain his loyalty. The amazing mix of action, romance, and the paranormal keep me re-reading this series of books whenever I feel the need to go to a sure-fire happy place.

The Night Huntress series features a half-vampire vampire hunter named Cat. While hunting one night she encounters Bones, a vampire bounty hunter. These two are definitions of enemies to lovers and the heat between them is off the charts. I absolutely love the relationship between these two and how it develops through the series.

Who knew vampires could be this funny? Forget the fact that the entire series will have you on the edge of your seat. The banter between the main characters, Kat and Bones kept me in tears. It gives off an enemies-ish to lovers vibe, but it so much more. I won’t even get into the number of sticky situations the heroine finds herself in. It’s such a fantastic story.

Cat Crawfield, half-vampire is on a mission to take out the undead as part of a personal vendetta. When she’s caught by vampire bounty hunter Bones, they become partners and hijinks ensue. She becomes a kick-ass demon hunter with sass (though at times, she can be a little naïve). But Cat and Bones together sizzle in their interactions, especially when you throw in his sarcastic wit.

Half human and half vampire but all bad ass, that is Kat “kitten” Crawfield from the Night Huntress series. Kat is a vampire hunter determined to rid the world of the evil creatures since she believes she too is evil thanks to her mother Justina’s constant propaganda about the undead. Of course, that is until Kat meets Bones a dashing vampire assassin who takes her under his wing and teaches her how to be a better killer. It is Kat’s stubborn streak and loyalty for those she loves that melts his undead heart. While Kat on the other hand takes…

I will one hundred percent admit I saved my absolute favorite for last. I’m not the kind who re-reads books often, preferring fresh meat to lay my twisted tastes into. But this one y’all, this one has my heart.
Cat and Bones.
Dreamy sigh.
One badass female who kills first and asks questions later and the vampire who is fucking obsessed with her, in all the delectable ways. Writing why I love this book I’m having the realization I not only love panty-dripping scenes, but also have an unhealthy obsession with an epic love story.
I have to go feed…

If you love Halfway to the Grave...
Just like the other novels on the list, Halfway to the Grave is a bit old but hard to ignore. I have loved vampires and stories about the undead since Buffy The Vampire Slayer was popular in the 90s. I’m sure that it was one of the few TV shows on television that I did my best not to miss as a kid. This book features a kick-ass heroine and a vampire bounty hunter, Bones, who is her perfect match in every way. I think the chemistry between these characters was the main reason why the story was so enjoyable.…
