The books I picked & why

Book cover of Breathe: Strategizing Energy in the Age of Burnout

Dan Brulé Why did I love this book?

This book is about a new and elegant approach to healthcare called ‘energy management’. Dr. Manga’s passion is in bringing mindfulness into medicine and in inspiring conscious living as a way of restoring and supporting health and wellbeing. She teaches high performers how to access authentic energy instead of relying on adrenalized energy. Dr. Manga offers simple yet powerful ways to integrate what she calls “recovery loops” into our everyday lives. This book is full of real-life stories about the effects of stress and is a treasure trove of practical tips for preventing and recovering from it. In fact, I believe that this book will do more to help you prevent and recover from stress and burnout than anything you have learned or that has been published to date.

Dan Brulé Why did I love this book?

Tom is a creative artist and has managed to write one of the best books I know of to awaken and unlock your natural creative abilities along with the physical, emotional, and psychological benefits of Breathwork. Simply grab a pen or pencil and breathe. Make your pen or pencil an extension of your breath. Use your pen to track each breath, for example moving your pen up with the inhale and down with the exhale. And that’s just the beginning. His book is filled with illustrations you can copy and trace, to reset your nervous system, and create ease and calmness. You’ll find his guided breathing exercises and “free breathing” exercises to be simple yet powerful ways to creatively connect to your mind and body, and especially to attune more deeply to your breath and spirit!

New book alert!

What is my book about?

The plan was insane. The trap seemed to snap shut on Bruce and Maggie Tate, an isolation forced on them by the pandemic and America's growing political factionalism. Something had to change.

Maggie's surprising answer: buy a boat, learn to pilot it, and embark on the Great Loop. With no experience, and knowing little about seafaring, diesel motors, or navigation, Maggie, Bruce, and the family dog decided to take on the six-thousand-mile journey down inland rivers, around the Gulf and Atlantic coasts, and across the Great Lakes. They would have to navigate canals, rivers, seas, and locks. But along the way, they made new lifelong friends and were forever changed.

For nine months, Bruce and Maggie navigated shallow rivers, bottomless lakes, joy, and loss. Against all odds, they conquered the Great Loop, and along the way, found common cause across political divides with new friends while blowing the walls off their world.
