Why did I love this book?
I read Demon Copperhead twice: once when a friend recommended it to me and then again for a book club. I can see why it recently won a Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, as it is so relevant to the opioid epidemic that is occurring right now.
This is a vital story in its many societal messages regarding foster care, poverty, and opioid addiction. It provides a raw look at a forgotten population told by a perceptive red-haired kid who is a hero worth rooting for.
I highly recommend people of all ages to read this one!
