Stella is a beautifully smart character who approaches love the way she approaches econometrics, which means she has everything to learn from her fake date/escort who becomes very real in short order. Hoang’s book is sweet, steamy, and hilarious, as Stella opens her mind to everything she’s been missing. I love seeing the cautious scientist in Stella gradually open up to Michael, who aces the family dynamic and wins her fiercely-guarded heart.

This was the book that inspired me to write. I loved it so. Even though it was a quick, easy read, Slow Hands made me want to step into the pages and take the heroine’s place. As I consumed it for the third time, I decided to analyze why I enjoyed it so. One of the reasons was that Maddy wasn’t perfect. I could relate to her. Also, the sex was steamy, fun, and very re-readable. Lastly, the hero was to die for. To me, the hero makes the book and Jake was one I wanted to grab onto and never let go. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History and the historical novel genre is one I love.
