I first picked up the book expecting an enjoyable (if predictable) mystery flavored by historical events. But it was an unexpected treat to discover that the book is an incredibly smart, twisty thriller that kept me guessing right up to the last few pages.
It’s rare to find a mystery/thriller that truly surprises, but this book pulled it off, and that’s what makes it a winner.
