My favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Rendezvous with Rama

Jonathan Mugan ❤️ loved this book because...

I love the feeling of exploration. It’s old but doesn’t feel stale like a lot of older scifi does.

My 2nd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of All the Fiends of Hell

Jonathan Mugan ❤️ loved this book because...

Great book in the genre of waking up and having no idea what is going on (like Project Hail Mary or the movie 28 Days Later). I had misread the title and was a bit confused the whole time reading it. The title is not “All the Friends of Hell.”

    🐇 I couldn't put it down

By Adam Nevill,

Why should I read it?

1 author picked All the Fiends of Hell as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

The red night of bells heralds global catastrophe. Annihilation on a biblical scale.Seeing the morning is no blessing. The handful of scattered survivors are confronted by blood-red skies and an infestation of predatory horrors that never originated on earth. An occupying force intent on erasing the remnants of animal life from the planet.

Across the deserted landscapes of England, bereft of infrastructure and society, the overlooked can either hide or try to outrun the infernal hunting terrors. Until a rumour emerges claiming that the sea may offer an escape.

Ordinary, unexceptional, directionless Karl, is one of the few who made…

By Jack Townsend,

Why should I read it?

2 authors picked Tales from the Gas Station as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

Drunk customers. Shoplifting raccoons. Otherworldly visitors. As night shift clerk at the twenty-four-hour gas station at the edge of town, Jack has pretty much seen it all.

That is, until his best friend reveals the body of a local politician hidden in the trunk of a car, setting off a chain of events with apocalyptic potential. Soon, Jack finds himself entangled in a supernatural conspiracy involving monster hunters, sociopaths, doomsday cultists, and... garden gnomes?

Armed with nothing but his wits, sarcasm, and alarming amounts of coffee, can Jack stay alive long enough to see another morning shift? Or will he,…

Don‘t forget about my book 😀

The Curiosity Cycle: Preparing Your Child for the Ongoing Technological Explosion

By Jonathan Mugan,

Book cover of The Curiosity Cycle: Preparing Your Child for the Ongoing Technological Explosion

What is my book about?

The Curiosity Cycle is a book for parents and educators who want to teach their children to be active explorers of the world. Learning through curiosity leads to adaptive thinking because your child is continually trying to improve his or her understanding of the world, and new facts and ideas become embedded in the knowledge that your child already has. Curiosity will also enrich your child's life because curiosity-based learning is internally directed and intrinsically motivated.

Curiosity is also crucial to prepare children for the profound effect computers are having on society. These changes are reshaping the employment landscape, and the success of our children will be determined in part by their ability to create new artifacts and experiences with technology.
