My favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow

Geoffrey Morrison ❤️ loved this book because...

This isn't the type of book I'd usually read, but a friend strongly recommended it to me given its subject matter and that the main characters are nearly my age. The book also takes place in two cities where I've lived. So that got me reading. It's a well crafted story and an entertaining read. I think about several moments from the book today, months after I finished it. That's always a good sign.

My 2nd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of The Mercy of Gods

Geoffrey Morrison ❤️ loved this book because...

The Expanse is one of my favorite book series. Highly recommended if you like sci-fi. This is the writing team S.A. Corey's new universe. It's far shorter than the typical Expanse book, and it's quite a different setting. I loved how they've weaved the world and plot all together. I'm just frustrated that it will be a year before the next installment (if they go by the pacing of the Expanse).

My 3rd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of The Fellowship of the Ring

Geoffrey Morrison ❤️ loved this book because...

As much as I love the Lord of the Rings films, I could never get into the books. Tolkien definitely has a style, and to be honest, I'm more a sci-fi guy than fantasy. However, I listened to all three books in the series this year because they're read by Gollum himself, Andy Serkis. Serkis is a legendary talent. He does different voices for all the characters and offers an incredible narrator tone. This is easily the best audiobook I've ever heard. Highly recommended.
