My favorite read in 2023…

Book cover of Finding the Bones

Steven Wilton Why did I love this book?

I’m not usually a fan of short story anthologies, but the author’s command of descriptive language and ability to keep the theme of humanity throughout swept me away.

The question of what it is to be human is left for the reader to decide. The collection is thought-provoking while still engaging the imagination and remaining entertaining. This book is a rare treasure.

My 2nd favorite read in 2023…

Book cover of In the Interest of N.K.

Steven Wilton Why did I love this book?

This murder/mystery/thriller swept me into a world I’d never experienced before.

Child welfare law, mixed in with tribal and federal jurisdiction issues made for a riveting who/why done it. The action moves right along all the while revealing and navigating the complexity of the welfare and jurisdiction issues. The ending served the story well. A really good read.

My 3rd favorite read in 2023…

Book cover of Eternity's Escape

Steven Wilton Why did I love this book?

I fell into this world of strange happenings, mythical creatures, and techno gizmos with no trepidation.

Lange weaves a spell and I couldn’t escape until I’d read the last word. The mixture of action, mystery, and mythology set in contemporary times is spellbinding. And it’s the first of a trilogy. I’ve already bought the second one.
