Why read it?

5 authors picked The Secret as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

This book shifted my entire paradigm. Watching the movie felt like unlocking a hidden key to life, and I knew I needed more. When I discovered there was a book, I dove in right away. It quickly became my daily manual for shifting beliefs and reinforcing the teachings from the film. My favorite part is how Rhonda Byrne makes the Law of Attraction feel clear and actionable.

The idea that our thoughts shape our reality really resonated with me and became a core part of my being. This book is a powerful tool I return to whenever I need a…

In 2009, I dislocated and broke my ankle in the Honolulu airport. Bedridden after surgery, I remembered a friend had given me a copy of The Secret. I read it in one sitting and had an epiphany! I have been manifesting my entire life but didn’t know that it’s name was Law of Attraction. This book catapulted me on my spiritual journey and forever changed my life. I realized I am a deliberate creator and can manifest any desire I want.

The Secret describes the law of attraction; everything in your life you attract to you, by images you hold in your mind.  Think thoughts of abundance and wealth, and don't allow contradiction to enter your mind. The law responds to your thoughts, whatever they may be. I loved this book as a foundational pillar to set your mind around whatever it is you want to accomplish. Trust the universe, have faith. Take the 1st step.

Tap Dancing on Everest by Mimi Zieman,

Tap Dancing on Everest, part coming-of-age memoir, part true-survival adventure story, is about a young medical student, the daughter of a Holocaust survivor raised in N.Y.C., who battles self-doubt to serve as the doctor—and only woman—on a remote Everest climb in Tibet.

This book has helped me a lot changing my life by opening up my mind to the fact that I can do everything I wish to, I am much more powerful than what I think and I have the ability to fulfill my dreams. It might seem obvious but it is not for many of us. In fact, after reading this book I fulfilled a great dream of mine, becoming an author.

Even if this book talks mainly about the Law of Attraction, a fundamental part of this law is gratitude and its power to change our hearts and our…

From Ivan's list on the power of gratitude.

This may be seen as an odd inclusion by me to this list, but there are lessons in this book that are impossible to ignore. Mostly, how our private thoughts shape the outcomes we receive. It’s easy to dismiss Byrne’s ideas of a universal law of attraction in a hyper-rational world where magic no longer has a place, but, for me, what she describes is not magical at all.

It merely reminds us that the reality we each experience is nothing more and nothing less than our own private interpretation of the universe, based on the sum of our experiences.…

From Colin's list on to alter your world view.
