Book cover of Prima Facie

Miranda Rijks I ❤️ loved this book because...

Wow – this was a completely brilliant audiobook narrated by the extraordinary talent, Jodie Comer. The book is about Tessa Ensler, an outstanding young barrister, who against all odds gained a first class education and went onto become one of the most successful barristers of her generation. But then, when faced with a horrifying incident herself, she has to question the legal system which she had so strongly defended.

By Suzie Miller,

Why should I read it?

What is this book about?

Tessa is a young, brilliant barrister. She has worked her way up from working-class origins to the top of her game: defending, cross-examining and winning.

But an unexpected event forces her to confront the patriarchal power of the law, where the burden of proof and morality diverge.

Prima Facie by Suzie Miller is an award-winning play for a solo actor, taking us deep into a world where emotion and integrity are in conflict with the rules of the game.

After several acclaimed productions in Australia and winning the Australian Writers' Guild Award for Drama, the play received its European premiere…

My 2nd favorite read in 2024…

Book cover of The Nanny's Secret: An absolutely addictive psychological thriller with a shocking final twist

Miranda Rijks I ❤️ loved this book because...

The Nanny’s Secret is a fast paced drama about a wealthy, entitled family and their nannies who seem to disappear. The novel is full of secrets, with plenty of twists and a shocker of an ending. Rose, the protagonist is probably the only appealing individual in a cast of horrible characters in this atmospheric, gripping book.

My 3rd favorite read in 2024…

Book cover of Geneva: the addictive new psychological suspense crime thriller for 2024, now a Richard and Judy Book Club pick!

Miranda Rijks I ❤️ loved this book because...

This is a tense, sometimes distressing and compelling story, extremely original book set in Switzerland. It’s about Nobel prize winner Sarah Collier who is suffering from early onset Alzheimer’s. She’s invited to be the guest speaker at the launch of a new biotech called Neurocell. Nothing is as it seems in this fast-paced thriller.

Make Her Pay

By Miranda Rijks,

Book cover of Make Her Pay

What is my book about?

Leonie has the perfect life. Someone wants to take it away.

Leonie is living her best life. Still in her twenties, she’s beautiful, successful and has just met Markus, the man of her dreams.

But Leonie has a secret. Ten years ago, she was involved in an accident in which another driver died. Leonie shouldn’t have been behind the wheel that night – no license, no insurance – so she fled the scene. And ever since, she’s been struggling to deal with the terrible guilt.

Now, as her wedding to Markus draws near, it seems someone is out to get her. It’s little things at first – botched work appointments, a cancelled bridal dress - but it soon escalates into a terrifying campaign which threatens her business, her family and even her life.

Leonie, caught up in a relentless nightmare, has no idea why anyone would set out to destroy her. Until she realizes there’s a link to the accident that happened all those years ago.

Someone knows what she did. Someone is determined to make her pay.

Make Her Pay – the gripping psychological thriller from the best-selling author of The Visitors and What She Knew.
