My favorite read in 2024…

Book cover of Dungeon Crawler Carl

M. J. Kuhn I ❤️ loved this book because...

This series is the most FUN I have had reading in a long, long time. It's bonkers, off-the-wall, and hilarious at times, but there really is solid substance, emotion, character development, and heart to it, too. I'm so mad I binge-read the first six books in under a month because now I have to wait for the next book and I'm so impatient!

What is this book about?

The apocalypse will be televised!

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible.

In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth—from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds—collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground.

The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot. A dungeon so enormous, it circles the entire globe.

Only a few dare venture inside. But once you're…

My 2nd favorite read in 2024…

Book cover of The Malevolent Seven

M. J. Kuhn I ❤️ loved this book because...

This book was the chaotic DnD-adjacent adventure of my dreams. The characters are all so vivid, most of them are terrible people but in the absolute best way. This book was an absolute riot and I'd recommend it to anyone who loved Kings of the Wyld. Or, honestly, fans of Baldur's Gate 3, the video game.

My 3rd favorite read in 2024…

Book cover of The Hike

M. J. Kuhn I ❤️ loved this book because...

I binge-read this book in two sittings. It was so bizarre. Probably one of the weirdest things I have ever read, and I adored it for that. At times hilarious, gross, and horrifying in turns, the last few pages had my jaw on the floor. It's not a book I can recommend to just anyone because it's truly bizarre. But if you like your books a little creepy and a lot weird, check this one out.

Book cover of Among Thieves

What is my book about?

Ryia Cautella has earned herself a reputation as the quickest, deadliest blade in the dockside city of Carrowwick. But Ryia Cautella isn't her real name. For the past six years, a deadly secret has kept her in hiding, doing whatever it takes to stay one step ahead of the formidable Guildmaster—the sovereign ruler of the five kingdoms of Thamorr. No matter how far or fast she travels, his servants never fail to track her down.

Ryia’s path now leads directly into the heart of the Guildmaster’s stronghold, and it’s not a path she can walk alone. Forced to team up with a crew of assorted miscreants, smugglers, and thieves, Ryia must plan her next moves very carefully. If she succeeds, her freedom is won once and for all.
