Undead and Unwed
Book description
First Betsy Taylor loses her job, then she's killed in a car accident. But what really bites is that she can't seem to stay dead. And now her new friends have the ridiculous idea that Betsy is the prophesied vampire queen, and they want her help in overthrowing the most…
Why read it?
4 authors picked Undead and Unwed as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?
While I didn’t set out to copy this novel, I have to admit that unconsciously this mashup of chick lit and horror with a vampire protagonist probably spawned my idea to write a romantic comedy/horror mashup with a protagonist who has just become a ghost. If you enjoyed Restless Spirits, this book has a similar vibe, albeit one that’s quite a bit more, ahem, spicy than you’ll typically find in my own writing. At turns hilarious, frightening, poignant, and steamy, this is probably the book that put paranormal chick-lit on the map.

I’m including Undead & Unwed for those who don’t like dark & gritty themes like I do. I’m including it for the readers who like chick-lit and comedy—because this series is freaking hysterical. I would recommend it to fans of the Sookie Stackhouse series (oops, not me namedropping another title in there, haha). The main character, Betsy, is a vampire queen unlike any you’ve ever seen before with all the sass of the south between her fangs, and she’s having a very bad day… Go read it. You’ll be glad you did.

Undead and Unwed is one of my favourites in UF. Its humorous tone and main character, Betsy, had me laughing a bunch of times, which is rare in books these days. I can’t help but keep seeing typos everywhere since becoming an author. I think it’s an occupational hazard.
Unlike previous books in this list that take everything seriously, this undead comedy can easily bring a smile to your lips while still keeping you spellbound to the vampire world. I’m sure Betsy will grow on you as a character.

If you love Undead and Unwed...
Ah Betsy, I know what a name for a vampire right? This book is full of humour, vampires, among them the oh-so-sexy Sinclair, witty insights into modern-day life and love. Though it is a short read it has some very funny new twists on the vampire genre and how it translates to the modern woman and all the issues this brings with it. This series is light-hearted and will be sure to have you giggling away in the darkness.
From Tamara's list on with a bite to titillate your senses.
