Why read it?

1 author picked The Light in the Ruins as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

I loved learning about what happened in Italy when the Germans occupied it. In this story, a wealthy Italian family becomes too close to the Germans by inviting them to search the secret ruins behind their villa for antiquities.
