Loved the inclusion of the pictures Teddy created

I didn't even know supernatural thrillers existed until I picked up Hidden Pictures and got both the spooky bits and the twisty bits I love in a story inside one book. It totally inspired the novel I was working on at the time (where I had ideas to combine the two, but was hesitant to try). I really enjoyed the addition of the actual pictures, that added a whole extra layer of creepiness to the story and isn't something I've seen much in adult fiction. When recovering addict Mallory Quinn is given the job of live-in nanny for a shy little boy who loves to draw, she soon begins to notice that things aren't quite right.

Despite her employers' generosity and her new surroundings in a picture-perfect upscale community, Mallory senses that her young charge's parents are hiding something from her, something that could turn out to be deadly.

I love mysteries, particularly those of the paranoic, things-are-not-what-they-seem variety. Hidden Pictures kept me guessing until the mind-blowing big reveal.

A young woman desperate for a second chance accepts a position as a nanny which comes with lodging in the pool house behind the family’s main house. The pool house is nicer than any place she’s lived recently, but she soon starts hearing strange noises and the little boy she’s watching starts drawing pictures that become creepier and more detailed as time goes on. I loved the flawed but kind heroine and cheered for her to figure out what happened in that pool house and what’s going on with the seemingly normal family who hired her. A real page-turner!
