Samantha Hickey ❤️ loved this book because...

I’ve only recently discovered cozy books like this one. I think so much of it was done well. The characters are delightful and you quickly fall in love with them. The stakes were appropriate and the situation unique. The love interest was done well and didn’t feel rushed at all. Overall, this was just such a delightful read.

Book cover of Fourth Wing

Samantha Hickey 👍 liked this book because...

This book is good. This might get me crucified, but I do think there are things that could have been done better. I would have liked to see more with Xaden’s crew, possibly even Xaden himself. I would have liked the underlying mystery to be more prevalent instead of just sort of jumping in at necessary places. (Violet is supposed to be the smart one, so I feel she could have been more focused on things that were odd)
Don’t get me wrong. This book is good. I liked it very much. I will be reading the others as well. It lived rent free in my head for quite a while after I read it.

What is my book about?

The world has not seen druids for two hundred years. The demon lord, Mathias, has hunted
them to extinction in pursuit of vengeance, leaving their cities and magical groves empty and
unattended.
Declan Arbor has been in hiding all that time, raising his apprentice, Alia. She’s a gifted druid
who is ready to to take the last step in her training, but the ceremony that gives her access to
those advanced powers will leave them exposed and vulnerable. Declan has been dragging his
feet in fear of loosing another apprentice, just like so many others before her.
To further complicate things, Galvin has arrived on their doorstep, seeking Declan’s help. As a
half fairy in a strict matriarchal society, he looks to escape a life where his greatest expectation
is to do as he’s told.
Before Alia can get her new powers and before Galvin has any answers, Declan is captured.
