My favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Against Walls

Julie Bozza ❤️ loved this book because...

I started the year with another re-read of the Amgalant books, and I adore them more than ever! I never want to leave this steppe (as wide and deep as a world) and these people (as well known and well loved as the best of friends). These epic tales include such marvellous humour, brilliant writing, fascinating characters and wonderful setting. It doesn't get better than that.

'Total and instant immersion... thoroughly compelling and powerful.' - Asian Review of Books

In the steppes of High Asia, the year 1166…

‘What is a Mongol? – As free as the geese in the air, as in unison. The flights of the geese promise us we don’t give up independence, to unite.’

The hundred tribes of the Mongols have come together with one aim: to push back against the walls that have crept onto the steppe – farther than China has ever extended its walls before. Walls are repugnant to a nomad. But can people on horses push them down,…

Book cover of Elizabeth

Julie Bozza ❤️ loved this book because...

Excellent stuff! I've read plenty of books about Elizabeth I, her life and times, but this felt different - to the extent that it felt like a revelation. It has been the perfect book at the perfect time for researching my next novel.

By Lisa Hilton,

Why should I read it?

1 author picked Elizabeth as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

A definitive portrait of one of the most compelling monarchs England has ever had: Elizabeth I.

'We are a prince from a line of princes.'

Lisa Hilton's majestic biography of Elizabeth I, 'The Virgin Queen', provides vibrant new insights on a monarch who continues to compel and enthral readers. It is a book that challenges readers to reassess Elizabeth's reign, and the colourful drama, scandal and intrigue to which it is always linked.

Don‘t forget about my book 😀

Book cover of Writ in Blood

What is my book about?

Courage. Honor. Loyalty. All fine things, but they’ve led John Ringo to kill a man. He was raised right and he knows he’s not a murderer, but otherwise he’s a mystery even to himself. Doc Holliday claims to have some insights, but Doc is too devoted to Wyatt Earp to spare much attention for the man who’s already lost his soul. Which leaves Johnny Ringo prey to the distractions of a demon. Imaginary or not, if this creature abandons him, too, then surely his sanity is forfeit – and what will his life be worth then?

This Queer Weird West novel follows these three along the complex trails that lead into and out of Tombstone, Arizona in 1881.
