Book cover of Foot Reflexology: A Visual Guide for Self-Treatment

Joan Budilovsky I ❤️ loved this book because...

Now you may be someone who has glorious feet, or you may be someone like me who has broken a few toes in life. This book will help you reflect on how important those tootsies are to your overall health. I asked a well-known Podiatrist recently (an MD who specialize in disorders of the feet and ankles) ) if he believed in Reflexology. He said he thought there’s merit to it. Particularly when unable to physically diagnose the source of a foot problem. My aching feet were happy to hear this!

Foot Reflexology by Jurgen Jorge gives an easy to follow, beautifully illustrated look at Reflexology and how our internal organs are affected by actual pressure points in the feet. Since our feet receive so much pressure from all the weight they carry, and gravity weighs down on them ever more - reflexology makes perfect logical sense to me! I recommend this book to anyone who wants to more deeply explore the important interconnections between the working of your internal organs and your feet. So before your medical bills pile up too high to the sky, throw some of your hard-earned money down on this awesome book and try studying your feet. Your health and your wallet will thank you.

What is this book about?

The healing and rejuvenating art of foot reflexology works on the principle that every part of the body in connected to the soles of the feet by nerve pathways and subtle energy channels. By massaging the foot, you can stimulate these connections, bringing soothing relief to the corresponding body part, whether the sinuses, back and neck, lungs, stomach, shoulder, hip, or other area of stiffness or pain. Conversely, massaging points on your hand is an effective way to treat foot injuries.

A centuries-old form of medicine that has become one of today's most accepted healing arts, foot reflexology can help…

Book cover of The Doctor is In: Dr. Ruth on Love, Life, and Joie de Vivre

Joan Budilovsky I ❤️ loved this book because...

If you’re someone who’s been around in the 1980’s, you definitely know about Dr. Ruth. And if you’re someone who’s REALLY been around, you probably know her even better. She was everyone’s favorite Sex Therapist. She had a radio show, a talk show, a movie, and countless guest appearances on every possible media outlet. Her German accent, her mischievous giggle, and the constant twinkle in her eyes made everyone adore her. All this and under 5 feet tall - wow! I remember her call-in radio talk shows the most - where people would call in with questions about sex. I would listen as I drove home from work. It was shocking, fascinating, and always educational! Bottom line, it was an absolute hoot as she brought joy into subjects that were often not discussed in polite circles. Whispers were transferred to loud speakers. And she made my long drive home feel like 2 minutes.

But her life was definitely not all fun and games. This book is an excellent autobiography of someone who experienced the horrors of the holocaust, lost her loving parents to it and had to embark into the world as an orphan at a very young age. As a young adult she became an accomplished sniper in the war. Her strength and inspired outlook, learned through her brief but loving family experiences, took hold to get her thru immensely difficult times with only their memories to guide her. Her life began to fully blossom in America where she brought with her a no-holds-barred attitude toward life. Her writing is open, engaging and always inspiring.

I was saddened to learn she died this year of 2024 at the ripe age of 96. I am sure she would have wanted to live well past 100. She no doubt had the energy to, but the angels must certainly be glad she’s with them now - guiding each one to even higher heights.

Book cover of Undo It! How Simple Lifestyle Changes Can Reverse Most Chronic Diseases

Joan Budilovsky I ❤️ loved this book because...

I’m writing this around the time of Thanksgiving. A time when many of us are making plans for a feast. How can we make it special and create lasting memories as we plan and choose what’s going on the table that special day. And a majority of us have one thing in common - our choices are leading us on a straight path to heart disease, the number one killer in our society.

When Dr. Dean Ornish's best-selling book, ‘Reversing Heart Disease’ came out in 1995, I made it required reading in the college yoga classes I taught. I now lead book discussions on his latest book with his wife, Anne Ornish, ‘Undo It!” As Dean and Anne direct readers to: "Eat Well. Move More. Stress Less. and Love More," it reminds me of a similar yogic path I embarked on years ago and have dedicated my long life teaching. Though you don't have to be a yogi to follow Dean and Anne. You just need to be someone who wants better health, a better life, and a better world. They convince us that all of this is indeed possible. Their reversing heart disease program is now covered by Medicare for those who have been diagnosed with some form of heart disease. But let’s get this program into the hands of the majority of us who have not yet been diagnosed, but will be if important changes are not made. It’s possible still to change course. And It’s really that important to.
