Why did I love this book?
So, I didn’t read much fiction last year. Been doing research for my next novel so I read a lot of science books, mostly theoretical physics, which should give you a heads up to the genre of my next project!
Kip Thorne is a pre-eminent theoretical physicist and was the main tech advisor on Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar”. If you like stuff that messes with your head, and your whole understanding of what we know as reality, this is the book for you!
A colleague and frequent collaborator with Stephen Hawking, Theories on time travel, space travel, the beginnings of time itself will give you plenty to ponder.
1 author picked Black Holes & Time Warps as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.
Which of these bizarre phenomena, if any, can really exist in our universe? Black holes, down which anything can fall but from which nothing can return; wormholes, short spacewarps connecting regions of the cosmos; singularities, where space and time are so violently warped that time ceases to exist and space becomes a kind of foam; gravitational waves, which carry symphonic accounts of collisions of black holes billions of years ago; and time machines, for traveling backward and forward in time.
Kip Thorne, along with fellow theorists Stephen Hawking and Roger Penrose, a cadre of Russians, and earlier scientists such as…
