Why read it?
7 authors picked You Are a Badass as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?
I read this book when I felt like I was lost on my manifestation journey. Some things would come to fruition, but others wouldn’t, and I wanted to know where I was stuck and how I could fix it.
This book gives practical advice on manifestation methods on a holistic level. It allows the everyday person to take the bite-sized chapters, digest them, and apply them to their lives.
I learned so much from the funny stories Jen talks about in her book and the timeless techniques that have helped me shape my manifestation practice.
From Chloe's list on manifestation mastery.
This book helped me view myself from a different lens. In this time and day, many people struggle with self confidence. If you want a boost in that department, I recommend reading this book. I enjoyed the author’s confidence in herself and myself.
From Jacqueline's list on start on a path of self-discovery and build a new you.
Let’s face it. Every one of us is bound to hit a “wall” at some point or another in life. At such times, it’s easy to fall into the “woe is me” trap, instead of proactively reassessing, redirecting, and shifting focus.
I read this book a decade ago, and once again recently. It has stood the test of time, and will continue to do so for years to come. Who doesn’t appreciate a good, old-fashioned (motivational) a$$-whooping, the kind that persuades us to stop complaining and start moving (in a different direction)?
Sincero is a no-nonsense, entertaining, and brilliant logophile…

Last year, July of 2022 my best friend Susan died of pancreatic cancer. Even though she was undergoing chemotherapy and fighting this monster of a disease, Susan took the time during this last year of her life to think of my birthday and shower me with presents like she’d done since we became friends 35 years ago.
One of the gifts she gave me was the book You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero. This book was released in 2013 and it’s been around a long time, but I think she gave it to me because I was in the…
I find this book really refreshing.
Jen Sincero moves away from the typical stuffiness of personal development books and approaches the topic with humor and a bit of irreverence. This book is like a don’t-sugar-coat-it conversation with your best friend over margaritas. It’s a quick and enjoyable read, full of down-to-earth advice and try-it-yourself exercises.
You’ll feel ready to take on anything and have a great time doing it!
From Tissa's list on leveling up your leadership.
My husband gave me this book way before I started writing my book (he may have unknowingly planted a seed in my mind).
What I love about this book is that even though it's written by a success coach, it actually makes great dating advice. Dating success and life success go hand-in-hand.
When the author talks about visualizing a parking space and seeing it open up, I thought, what the hell, let me see if this works in other areas of my life. Call it the power of positive thinking, or just using your mind’s eye for manifestation, it definitely…
From Treva's list on dating and relationship advice.
I don't want to read average self-help / the same old thing. This is not the same old thing. Well, it is, but it is written in such a refreshingly honest and amusing way that I was gripped by every word. If you want to dip your toe into self-help but are not sure where to start, you can't go too wrong with this gem of a book. From meditation to money, the author has covered all the basics for getting your life in order.
From Julie's list on self-help memoirs on making the most of your life.
