Why read it?
2 authors picked White Ivy as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?
Lying and cheating are not even the worst things that happen in this extremely compelling, twisty debut novel about an ambitious thief named Ivy. In addition, it explores the hardships and challenges of the immigrant experience while keeping you on the edge of your seat, which is a very impressive feat on its own.
From Zhanna's list on most compelling affairs in literature.
White Ivy is such a zippy, delicious read. I don’t even normally like thrillers, but I loved this one.
Part romance, part coming-of-age-story, and part social-climbing satire, this book had an absolutely magnetic protagonist in Ivy, who is the kind of terrible person you can’t look away from. Susie Yang’s writing is both astute and eviscerating, with plenty of memorable lines.
Plus it’s got the most spot-on description of WASP interior design I’ve ever read.
From Michelle's list on coming-of-age about smart but flawed Asian girls.
