Why read it?
2 authors picked The Dead and the Dark as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?
With a dash of sapphic romance and a heartbreaking final twist, this book imagines a sinister, sentient darkness lurking in a small town and egging its residents on into terrible acts. It cuts right to the core of a troubled family and the petty resentments that have built up between them. I totally cried.
From Amelinda's list on young adult supernatural horror.
The Dead and the Dark is a whole mood: A small town full of secrets, a mysterious dark force killing teenagers, a swoony-worthy sapphic romance, and absolutely gorgeous, moody writing. (I kept reading lines out loud to anyone who would listen!) Throw in a pair of TV ghost hunters and a great supporting cast and you have the perfect read for a dark and stormy evening under the covers.
From Erica's list on girls battling monsters.
