Why read it?

10 authors picked Rich Dad Poor Dad as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

Rich Dad Poor Dad is the book that changed the trajectory of my life forever.

It is a parable that explains the difference between the traditional way of thinking “Go to school, get a good job, work hard, retire” with the entrepreneur mentality, and the concepts of utilizing passive income to replace your job at an earlier age.

I love this book because it takes the normally boring subject of finance and investing and breaks it down in a fun and easy way to learn so that you will actually finish the book and have the ability to experience that…

This is a timeless classic, where the author grows up with two dads, and his best friend's dad is the Rich Dad.

Although it is not a book on saving money; it is about the terminology of being wealthy, and in owning investments that derives some healthy passive income.

If you wish to improve your financial literacy in any economic cycle; any of the books from the Rich Dad series comes highly recommended.

When I was starting out on my side hustle journey, this was the first book I read. It’s absolutely crucial for understanding the importance of having multiple income streams. For most people, that’s the very reason why they are starting a side hustle in the first place. Rather than only making money during the hours spent at work, Rich Dad Poor Dad shows you how to make money 24/7. This book is essential for shaping your money mindset.

From Ryan's list on how to get a side hustle started.

A friend recommended this book to me. At the time I was looking to expand my thinking about business and also started delving into the world of financial education.

Rich Dad Poor Dad aims to help the reader to consider their thoughts and actions and the path which they are on and offers an alternative to what the "herd" is doing, with a move towards very strategic activities when it comes to lifestyle, money and how you think about and use it. Reading this book led me to discover Kiyosaki’s Cashflow Quadrant.

The idea is to move beyond the left…

Ever thought about quitting your 9-5 to become a full-time real estate investor? This is the book that inspired me to walk away from my job as a TV news cameraman back in 2002 to start a house flipping business. There isn’t much step-by-step strategy provided, but you’ll learn how to think and act like a real estate investor and business owner.

I like this book specifically because it challenges so many of my own deeply cherished financial beliefs. If you’re a budding entrepreneur who finds the idea of minimalism and self-sacrifice off-putting, then you may like this book better. It focuses on the making-money side of the equation. The author advocates building wealth through investing in assets (e.g., real estate, your own business, stocks, and bonds). His approach is not for everyone – but if nothing else, it will make you think, which is never a bad thing.

Without Rich Dad Poor Dad I may have never learned that I was trapped in the Rat Race. You can’t escape something if you don’t know you are in it. I have read this book that I have read any other book as it was simply a shock to my understanding of the world and how each individual can control their future.

Rich Dad Poor Dad changed my family's life and for that I am thankful. However, it is not a story or a journey of starting from nothing and accumulating assets over 15 years. As I wrote my own…

No book has had such a significant and nearly instantaneous effect on my personal success with investments. To this day, I use concepts that Robert Kiyosaki lays out in Rich Dad, Poor Dad which are still paying off many decades later. Written with a knowledgeable and friendly voice, this is one of those books where you will feel like you’ve just had a wonderful conversation with the author. The greatest concept the book lays out involves the tremendous taxation advantages which come from running your own business.

From Peter's list on to get more from capitalism.

There is a reason why this book enjoys cult status. Robert Kiyosaki brings financial literacy to the masses. By posing different perspectives of finances the author provides a framework for anyone to achieve financial freedom. No matter who you are, or what your background, this book provides an opportunity to level the financial playing field.

From Allan's list on living an extraordinary life.

Not all of us start out with a rich dad. Learn how to think about money and cash flow like a wealthy person. There are three key ideas you will walk away with: Robert Kiyosaki shares how his two dads—his actual father (poor dad) and the father of his best friend (rich dad)—shaped his thoughts about money and investing. You don’t need to earn a high income to be rich. Finally, rich people make their money work for them.

From Bryan's list on for aspiring entrepreneurs.
