Why read it?

2 authors picked Dear Evan Hansen as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

I was swept into this book at the start because of the main character.

Evan Hansen is filled with anxiety and he’s quickly relatable. He’s so relatable that when he makes a terrible mistake—letting everyone believe that he really was best friends with Connor Murphy—I could understand why he did it and I could imagine doing something similar. I felt deeply for Evan and his plight to admit the truth.

This book has changed my life. It showed me that when there is grief, there is also time for healing and self-discovery.

The relatable characters will make you want to cry, and the overall message is inspiring. If you have the time, I highly encourage you to watch the musical because the lyrics will tug at your heartstrings. Dear Evan Hansen has taught me that dealing with mental health is never easy, but by working together and reaching out to others, you can make someone feel loved.

“You are not alone. You will be found.”
