Moriarty unfolded the plot page by page, so I couldn't look away. I was busy collecting drops of information and piecing the story together the whole time. Rather than dropping giant twists at intervals, this book rolled out all the important information and surprises on every page, and I was glued to the story. The main characters were so much fun, and Alice's little quirks and mannerisms were so close to my own that I felt like I was reading to see how my own story would unfold. It was mesmerizing!

'Gripping, thought-provoking and funny' MARIE CLAIRE ______________

Alice is twenty-nine.
She adores sleep, chocolate, and her ramshackle new house.
She's newly engaged to the wonderful Nick, and is pregnant with her first baby. But there's just one problem.
That was ten years ago . . .
Alice slipped in her step-aerobics class, hit her head and lost a decade.
Martin doesn't make up stories--he creates characters that seem so real, then records their story. The topic of this book was difficult, but incredibly well done, and with so much hope and beauty. No one tells a story like Charles Martin. No author can make me FEEL like Charles Martin! His writing is exquisite. The spiritual thread is done better than any other author I've read, too. It never feels like his books are meant to deliver a message, but more that he saturates himself fully in God and his faith, then his writing naturally springs out of that--and is also drenched in those things. It's beautiful, powerful, and organic storytelling. I adore it.

Mimi Matthews can charge the most simple event with tension and emotion. She's a master storyteller. Her bold and well-drawn characters are not afraid to be who they are, and they carry the narrative along. The simple, straightforwardness of the plot--which does have some great twists and turns--serves to showcase the immense tension laced through every conversation, every moment, every page of this book. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to see what would happen next. Even though it's a romance novel, which generally means a happy ending, I was so excited to see them reach that point!
