Book cover of The Only Plane in the Sky: An Oral History of 9/11

Jennifer Beckstrand ❤️ loved this book because...

An oral history of 9/11 which should be required reading for every person on the planet. Full of compelling stories of heartbreak and heroism. I just loved this book. Everyone must read it!
Constance Labetti, accountant, Aon Corporation, South Tower, 99th floor: “I would start to cry, and I’d start to tremble, and I heard my father’s voice. My father had been dead since 1985—and I heard his voice, clear as day, telling me that I was not going to die in this building. I straightened up and kept walking down the steps. A few minutes later, I heard my uncle—who kind of took over being my dad when my dad passed away. My uncle passed away in ’99, and he used to call me ‘Kiddo.’ I heard my uncle’s voice in my left ear telling me, ‘Kiddo, just take one step at a time.’ And I did. We got to the lobby, and my coworker Jules and I had to rest for a moment because we were perspiring terribly. We had walked down 100 flights of steps. People were coming up to me, hugging me, and telling me, ‘Thank you, thank you,’ and hugging me as they walked by me, and I said to Jules, ‘What? Why? What are they doing that for?’ She said, ‘Connie, you don’t know what you were saying? You were saying—We’re not going to die in this building. Just take it one step at a time—’ I was repeating what my father and my uncle were telling me, and I didn’t even know it.”

My 2nd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Anxious People

Jennifer Beckstrand ❤️ loved this book because...

Backman is a superior writer, with excellent insights into human nature and human frailty. Such a wonderful read!
“Estelle smiled feebly. If you’ve lived with teenagers, you know they only exist for themselves, and their parents have their hands full dealing with the various horrors of life. Both the teenagers’ and their own. There was no place for Estelle there, she was mostly something of a nuisance. They were pleased that she answered the phone when they called on her birthday, but the rest of the time they assumed time stood still for her. She was a nice ornament that they only took out at Christmas and Midsummer.”

By Jennifer Beckstrand,

Book cover of The Amish Quiltmaker's Unattached Neighbor

What is my book about?

Irrepressible Colorado Amish quiltmaker Esther Kiem is delighted to help the four Yoder sisters stitch together their beloved great-grandmother’s birthday quilt…especially when it means putting her matchmaking talents to use!

Infused with her signature humor and heart, award-winning, USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Beckstrand blends quilting, mischief, and matchmaking for the sixth Amish Quiltmaker romance – perfect for fans of Amy Clipston, Wanda Brunstetter, and Linda Byler.

At thirty-two, Ada Yoder is resigned to caring for her three sisters, her ever-impractical father, and their prosperous, but demanding, farm. The last kind of trouble she needs is Enos Hoover claiming that six acres of their land actually belongs to him—and taking steps to prove it. But Ada soon finds that battling Enos' clever strategies is delightfully intriguing—and lighting an impossible spark . . .

Enos is determined to make his mater proud by turning difficult acreage into a successful farm. Legally, he is in the right to reclaim the land from the Yoders. But Ada's hard-working stubbornness and refreshing honesty are proving to be more of an irresistible challenge than an obstacle. Now, can Enos and Ada find enough faith and understanding to reconcile family, duty, and love—and stake their claim on a forever happiness together?

Sometimes the greatest blessings come in disguise . . .
