Why read it?

3 authors picked The Keeper of Lost Things as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

I love books of discovery, people who are lost and figure out a way to find their voices, and characters who become the silver linings for others and in doing so find love and a meaningful life.

This is a quirky story about one woman’s quest to return lost treasures to their rightful owners, with the help of an irritable ghost. Each character in this charming novel is fully developed, and every plot thread expertly woven. It’s perfect for readers searching for a heart-warming read and a dusting of magic!

I enjoyed the relationship with the two main characters, a man called Anthony who wants to atone for a promise he broke many years before. His time is running out and he must leave all his unfinished work to his assistant, Laura, who runs his house, offers him companionship and above all whom he trusts. This is a real page-turner, as several “actions” trigger a serendipitous string of encounters. I love this story.

If you like simple stories built around deep, complex characters, you will enjoy reading this story of an old man who not only collected but treasured ordinary things lost by people in a hope that someday someone would do the same to him and reunite him with his most treasured possession. There is love, there is pain, there is faith and hope. There are some loosely tied ends that make this story so different and special. The best part is the reader here is omniscient. We know the story behind many lost things – a button, a piece from a…
