Why read it?
1 author picked The Evangelical Imagination as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?
Karen Swallow Prior does a terrific job identifying and naming the many threads that make up the tapestry that we call evangelicalism. Once named, she allows us to decide which ones should be pulled and which ones should remain.
It's a meaty, well-researched offering. If you consider yourself a follower of Christ but feel confused or angry regarding how Christianity has devolved into its current iteration, you need to read this book. Though The Evangelical Imagination is both confrontive and prophetic, the author does not descend into cynicism or despair.
