Why read it?

3 authors picked Minion as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?

This book encompasses the good, the bad, and the ugly—it is both powerfully real and beautifully raw!

We think with our minds, we feel with our hearts, but we exist within our souls. And this book pried every one of those open for me. It was so gritty and hard-hitting, so raw and uncut, so reminiscent of what it is like to look deep inside oneself, face both strengths and weaknesses, conquer fears and inner demons, acknowledge everything without pretense, then continue fighting to reach one’s potential.

Don’t tell, but I have a thing for the supernatural. I love a good vampire, zombie, demon tale. Those are the stories I go to when I’m writing, and on deadline, and I still want to read. I still remember standing in line at Borders on the corner of State and Randolph at Christmas. I don’t remember the book I was buying, but I remember looking over and seeing the cover of someone who looked like me, during a time when most contemporary urban fantasy stories featured heroines of European descent. It took me one night to read this book and I instantly fell in love with Damali and Carlos. The next day I hunted down every other published novel in the series and devoured them, eagerly waiting for the next one to drop.
