Book cover of You Are Here

Sarah Edghill ❤️ loved this book because...

David Nicholls is a genius when it comes to creating characters you can instantly empathise with and root for. Marnie and Michael in 'You Are Here' are no exception and I loved following them on their epic walk and watching their relationship develop. Brilliant dialogue and fantastic scene-setting; for me this is David Nicholls' best book to date (and I've loved them all!).

My 2nd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of This Is Where I Leave You

Sarah Edghill ❤️ loved this book because...

Having discovered Jonathan Tropper, I've now gone through his backlist like wildfire! Such a witty, original author. Not all of his characters are likeable (by turns I liked and loathed Judd in 'This is Where I Leave You' - he doesn't always behave well!) but they're so well drawn. The premise of this book is brilliantly original and Tropper hooks you in from the opening pages as Judd's life falls apart. If yo like books about warring, dysfunctional families, put this one at the top of your list.

What is this book about?

A riotously funny, emotionally raw New York Times bestselling novel about love, marriage, divorce, family, and the ties that bind-whether we like it or not.

The death of Judd Foxman's father marks the first time that the entire Foxman clan has congregated in years. There is, however, one conspicuous absence: Judd's wife, Jen, whose affair with his radio- shock-jock boss has recently become painfully public. Simultaneously mourning the demise of his father and his marriage, Judd joins his dysfunctional family as they reluctantly sit shiva and spend seven days and nights under the same roof. The week quickly spins out…

Book cover of The Wedding People

Sarah Edghill ❤️ loved this book because...

Such clever writing! I love a book that makes me laugh out loud, and this is a great example. Alison Espach has created a brilliant cast of characters and thrown them all together into a bizarre but totally believable setting. This book is funny, romantic and a real page turner - the kind of book I want to recommend to all my friends and then discuss endlessly one they've read it too!

She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming…
