I loved this book because it had interesting characters that grabbed my interest right away so I was invested in what happened to them. I also loved the unique magic system and the mysterious dark world. I also loved that it had a little romance between unlikely characters.

Book cover of The Other Side of Disappearing

Lena Gibson I ❤️ loved this book because...

I couldn't stop thinking about this book day or night, even days after I finished reading it. I didn't want to put it down and wanted to find out what had happened to the girls' missing mother. Why had she left them all those years ago and why hadn't she come back. I also loved the romance between the reporter's assistant and the older sister because it was both understated and powerful. Their connection was immediate and I liked that he saw/understood the real her in the first minute and tried to help, do his job, and protect the girls at the same time. It was a complex and wonderful road trip.

Book cover of Neanderthal Seeks Human

Lena Gibson I ❤️ loved this book because...

This is a smart, well-written romance about quirky people who fall in love. The series revolves around a circle of friends who knit. I knew I would love this story when the MC isn't a knitter but belongs to this group of supportive friends. I might be a Janie. While reading this book, I asked myself some questions. Do I babble this much about my special interests? I might. Do I go off on this many tangents? Sometimes. Am I as oblivious in social situations and to nuances others understand? I might be. After reading Neanderthal Seeks Human (which as an Archaeology major I love btw), I DON'T CARE. This was a book that led me down a rabbit hole of all books by Penny Reid....so eighteen books later, I have two new "favorite" series and a new favorite author.
