My favorite read in 2023

Book cover of The Unlikely Heir

Britt Belle Why did I love this book?

This book is both romantic and sweet. A prince and a prime minister falling in love is fraught with external conflicts, and Callum and Oliver have to decide what they are willing to sacrifice to be together.

Callum is insanely likable and charming. I immediately connected with him and became invested in his success in winning over the British public. Additionally, it was beautiful to watch his friendship with Oliver unexpectedly turn into love. They are so adorable together.

This book is perfect for everyone who loves Red, White, & Royal Blue

My 2nd favorite read in 2023

Book cover of Not That Duke

Britt Belle Why did I love this book?

I’m a sucker for historical romance heroes who are severely out of touch with their emotions.

Silvester is certain he wants to marry Yasmin—who is insanely popular and classically beautiful. He woos her while he spends the rest of his time hanging out with Stella. Stella is his favorite person on the planet, but he somehow manages to ignore how much he likes her. When he finally accepts that she is the most amazing woman ever and asks her to marry him, she thinks she’s simply convenient because he’s convinced everyone that he’s in love with Yasmin.

I have no idea how Eloisa James makes Silvester so likable, but she does. Additionally, Stella is a DELIGHT! I adored this book!!

What is this book about?

The Duke of Huntington has no interest in an eccentric redhead who frowns at him over her spectacles…until he realizes that she is the only possible duchess for him. A new enemies-to-lovers romance by New York Times bestselling author Eloisa James.

Bespeckled and freckled, Lady Stella Corsham at least has a dowry that has attracted a crowd of fortune-hunting suitors—which definitely doesn’t include the sinfully handsome Silvester Parnell, Duke of Huntington, who laughingly calls her “Specs” as he chases after elegant rivals.

And then—

The worst happens. Marriage.

To the duke. To a man marrying her for all the wrong…

My 3rd favorite read in 2023

Book cover of The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes

Britt Belle Why did I love this book?

This book has the best meeting ever!

Rob attempts to blackmail Marian via letter, and they begin a fairly hostile but also flirtatious correspondence. After countless letters, Marian follows Rob, drugs him, ties him to a bed, and leaves him there. In the normal course of events, this wouldn’t lead to love, but Rob is charming, and Marian appreciates his criminal tendencies.

This book is driven almost entirely by external conflict because Rob and Marian’s personalities fit together almost perfectly from the very beginning.

By Cat Sebastian,

Why should I read it?

3 authors picked The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

Cat Sebastian returns to Georgian London with a stunning tale of a reluctant criminal and the thief who cannot help but love her.

Marian Hayes, the Duchess of Clare, just shot her husband. Of course, the evil, murderous man deserved what was coming to him, but now she must flee to the countryside. Unfortunately, the only person she can ask for help is the charismatic criminal who is blackmailing her—and who she may have left tied up a few hours before…

A highwayman, con artist, and all-around cheerful villain, Rob Brooks is no stranger to the wrong side of the…

The Earl Was Wrong

By Britt Belle,

Book cover of The Earl Was Wrong

What is my book about?

Sebastian cannot control his unruly, scandal-seeking family, so he decides to wed an almost spinster so she can keep them in line. Emmeline is even-tempered and patient, and before long, Sebastian finds himself seeking her company and wanting to please her. He soon discovers that she is everything he never knew he wanted. He doesn't count on liking her, let alone loving her.

Can a marriage that was meant to be convenient turn into a love match?

My 6-year-old's favorite read in 2023…

Book cover of The Book with No Pictures

Britt Belle Why did they love this book?

This book is so silly, and it really doesn’t have any pictures. My daughter loves it when we use lots of different-sounding voices. It has a lot of odd, made-up words that she thinks are super crazy. The monkey parts are her favorite. If you want your kids to laugh, you should read them this book.

By B.J. Novak,

Why should I read it?

5 authors picked The Book with No Pictures as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

This innovative and wildly funny read-aloud will be the Must Have book of the season. You might think a book with no pictures seems boring and serious. Except...here's how books work. Everything written on the page has to be said by the person reading it aloud. Even if the words say...BLORK. Or BLUURF. Even if the words are a preposterous song about eating ants for breakfast, or just a list of astonishingly goofy sounds like BLAGGITY BLAGGITY and GLIBBITY GLOBBITY.
