The Summer Skies

In her soaring novel, Jenny Colgan has me in the co-pilot’s seat right next to Morag MacIntyre while she’s flying her family’s small plane to deliver mail, supplies, and tourists to Scotland’s northernmost windswept islands.

The descriptions of the islands as seen from the air and on the ground are glorious and had me reliving my time in Scotland. I love strong female characters, especially when they save the day—and the plane—in the midst of a terrible storm and then muster the courage to send a betraying boyfriend on his way.
