Why read it?
1 author picked The Saturdays as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?
The Saturdays is still a favorite—first for me, later for my kids.
This postwar tale is about what happens after the kids in the Melendy family decide to pool their weekly allowances so they can follow their dreams. Mona(13), Rush (12), Randy (“Miranda” 10 1/2), and Oliver (age 6) set out on adventures that suit each of their personalities and talents.
I love this series, especially this warm, funny, and sometimes poignant book, because it’s about trying new things and discovering life’s possibilities.
Spoiler alert: The policeman’s horse is an unforgettable triumph.
From Laurel's list on luring your kids into trying new things.
