Welcome back, David Braddock. Leaving his PI business in The Land of Smiles, and marrying Da they move back to London. But death is following him, and life in the UK turns upside down when he identifies the body of his neighbour. Against Da's wishes, he investigates the murder with disastrous consequences.

This is addictive reading at its best. PI David Braddock is racing towards a rail wreck at top speed, and I'm right there with him in each bad decision he makes. Curiosity, and compelled me onto the tracks as the train rushed towards me and PI David Braddock.

In PI David Braddock, Mr Dolan has created a character that is flawlessly flawed, likeable, intelligent, and one a reader can't get enough of. If you've never read a PI David Braddock novel, you're in for a treat. If, like me, you're a PI David Braddock addict you're in for a treat.

The author spins a literary web of lies, danger, murder, and wit. It's a gripping, fast-paced, humourous, delight.

My 2nd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of The Sunne in Splendour

Kathleen Harryman ❤️ loved this book because...

This is my second time reading this book. After my first introduction into the world of Richard III over ten years ago, I wanted to recapture it. The book delves into Richard III from a young age, and from this it captures the essence of the man, preparing the reader for the inevitable decision he makes to take his brother's crown. Murder, mystery, espionage, loyalty, this book captures it all in glorious detail.

The author, Sharon K. Penman, raises question over Richard III involvement into his nephews disappearance. Eloquently explaining in the Author's Notes her reasoning for this.

This book has provided with me deep connection to English history and to the Plantagenets. It is in essence a historical story, but one that comes with suspense and intrigue. And this is why I loved it.

This special thirtieth anniversary edition of the bestselling The Sunne in Splendour, features an author's note from Sharon Penman.

Richard, last-born son of the Duke of York, was seven months short of his nineteenth birthday when he bloodied himself at the battles of Barnet and Tewkesbury, earning his legendary reputation as a battle commander in the Wars of the Roses, and ending the Lancastrian line of succession.

But Richard was far more than a warrior schooled in combat. He was also a devoted brother, an ardent suitor, a patron of the arts, an indulgent father, a generous friend. Above all,…

Book cover of No Stone Unturned

Kathleen Harryman ❤️ loved this book because...

The sleuthing skills of Lucy Lawrence in a period when women were not revered for their intellect are unbound in this wonderful mystery drama.

The author, Pam Lecky, writes a captivating tale, with a host of intriguing characters. This author knows how to capture a readers attention, and drop the clues while never giving anything away. As a reader who likes to solve a good mystery, I was enthralled by Lucy Lawrence's strength. To be widowed is hard enough, but to find out your husband isn't the man you thought, is even harder. At each turn, Lucy comes face to face with yet another of her husband's indiscretions, some of which places her in danger.

This is a gripping story, made more so by the author's wonderful writing style.
