Book cover of Magic & Murder

Heather G. Harris ❤️ loved this book because...

This was such a gorgeous read and it was just what I needed when the world was feeling a bit turbulent. This is a story that features a single mum, Ember, learning that she has magic. She moves to a paranormal town and has to find her place amongst her newly discovered magical family, with her daughter, Marly. Ember is such a fun character because she really speaks her mind, often without fully thinking it through. It was funny, warm-hearted and magical. I dived straight into book two of the series.

What is this book about?

Welcome to Starry Hollow, where spells were made to be broken.

Short on both cash and time, Ember Rose does her best as a single mom in New Jersey, serving up attitude along with repossession notices. When a repo job goes sideways, she and her daughter find themselves in imminent danger--until a visit from estranged relatives turns their world upside down. Ember, Marley, and their Yorkie are transported to Starry Hollow, a paranormal town where witches rule and magic is as normal as pizza. Where Ember goes, though, trouble seems to follow. When a member of the coven turns up…

My 2nd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Cursed Dragon

Heather G. Harris ❤️ loved this book because...

I love everything Brogan Thomas writes. She is the Queen of emotional rollercoasters, and this book was no exception. I found this book to be cleverly written, whilst still pulling me through a raft of different emotions. Kricket is the star of this show, a young lady whose magical talents far exceed what is acceptable in her hidden magical town. She has to keep her skills hidden, until a magical invasion comes to her town and she has to risk it all to keep it safe.

This read set my heart to pounding! I read it all in one glorious sitting. I can fully recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy!

What is this book about?

She’s stuck working a dead-end job in an isolated paranormal community. When they come under attack, can this snarky teen defend those she loves?

Kricket Jones is bored. Trapped with her family in a heavily warded enclave because of their dormant dragon DNA, the nineteen-year-old’s biggest adrenaline rush comes from crafting forbidden charms on the sly. But her mundane life takes a breakneck turn into danger when strange explosions rock the community and everyone in town falls under a mind-controlled spell.

Frustrated when the local gargoyle guards are more worried about her use of ancient magic than the mysterious invasion,…

My 3rd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Vicious Creatures

Heather G. Harris ❤️ loved this book because...

Lauretta Hignett has become known for her madcap sense of humour and a healthy dose of feminism being weaved through her books. This one was no exception. I laughed aloud many times, even with a bit of a snort in there at times. The female main character, Chloe, is a real dichotomy, and her sidekick is a magical murderous goose called Dwayne. Yes, you heard me, a goose.

If you love Urban Fantasy, you should dive into Lauretta's backlist, starting with Immortal. You won't look back.

What is this book about?

I've been asleep for the past ten years.

The horror of waking up from the best dream ever and remembering you’re a monster is indescribable. My soul is screaming for mercy, for forgiveness, for redemption… but I know I’ll never get it. I’m going to Hell for everything I’ve done.

The only thing I can do now is take as many monsters with me as I can.

My list is almost complete. There’s one more name to go, and it’s the hardest job I’ve ever done.

I’m on my way to Castlemaine — a bizarre little town hidden in between…

Don‘t forget about my book 😀

Book cover of Glimmer of the Other

What is my book about?

I can tell when you’re lying. Every. Single. Time.

I’m Jinx, a PI hired to find a missing university student, I hope to find her propped up at a bar – yet my gut tells me there’s more to this case than a party girl gone wild. Firstly, she’s a bookish soul who’s as likely to go off the rails as Mother Theresa. Secondly, I’m not the only one on her trail; she’s also being tracked by the implacable and oh-so-sexy Inspector Stone.

Stone and I team up, and he shoves me into a realm where magic is real – a place where there are vampires and werewolves, dragons and trolls. And where my skills are more than just detecting lies...

Delve into this internationally best-selling series, now complete! A fast-paced laugh-out-loud mix of Urban Fantasy and Mystery.
