Why did I love this book?
This autobiography of the keyboardist of the rock band Journey is so inspirational that my words can hardly do justice to it.
As a child, Jonathan Cain came close to dying in a famous tragedy. As an adult, he came close to giving up. But one simple piece of inspirational advice from his father let to success and one of the most popular songs in history.
In Chicago in 1958 a boy ran out of his school to escape what became the worst school fire in history. Questioning why he survived and almost 100 others died, this story is the autobiography of the man who used that experience to pursue his dream of becoming a professional musician and who went on to co-write one of the most iconic pop music songs in history.
This book was such an inspiration that it makes you want to live your life all over again and never stop believing. I lost my own father in a fire and while we were not close, the book did touch me quite personally on that fact and others. As an amateur musician, it made me want to relive my life and do better.
