From author and psychotherapist Dr. Brian Weiss comes the classic New York Times bestseller on the true case of the past-life therapy that changed the lives of both the prominent psychiatrist and young patient involved-now featuring a new afterword by the author.
As a traditional psychotherapist, Dr. Brian Weiss was…
Why read it?
8 authors picked Many Lives, Many Masters as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?
This is the classic book on past lives. When you are following a spiritual journey, the concept of reincarnation is one of many aspects that inevitably open up to consider and explore. It’s a well-written book that inspires and clearly explains the perception and theory of past lives.
It’s also a reassuring read for people dealing with bereavement as well as helping the reader to see that perhaps we are not victims in a particular lifetime but merely experiencing different perspectives and aspects of 3D incarnation.

This million-copy bestselling classic is one of the breakthrough texts in past-life regression therapy. As a traditional therapist, Dr. Brian Weiss was skeptical when one of his patients recalled past-life traumas—until she began channeling messages that contained remarkable revelations about Dr. Weiss’ family.
This book is a wonderful introduction to the way that our past lives exert a powerful impact on our current lives and can obstruct our psycho-spiritual growth.
From Rande's list on karma and reincarnation.
This book connected me with the concept of the soul and spirit so vividly and personally.
Written as a story, I found every page was a pleasure to read and an extraordinary discovery of life after death, life between life, and the possibility of Spirit Guides. I read this when these things were new to me, and Dr. Weiss’s writing was so simple, clear, and easy to envision.
It felt like a spiritual experience to me when I read this book. I never looked at relationships or myself the same after this book.

Many Lives, Many Masters intrigued me.
It is Dr. Weiss’ account of his progression through his therapeutic hypnotic practice from scientific skepticism to steadfast belief in survival of the soul and reincarnation. I was so fascinated that I attended two of his seminars, in 2010 and 2013, and for the first time, experienced past life regression for myself.
My initial regression was to a childhood memory, which instructed me how to overcome the writing block I was experiencing. Following the advice of that regression, when I resumed working on my book, the story fairly poured out of me,…
From Lois' list on beginning a metaphysical awakening.
If you’re a skeptic about reincarnation, this is the perfect book for you. It is the true story of a traditional psychotherapist who didn’t believe in reincarnation until a patient began to recall past-life traumas that were continuing to affect his life. Their journey together changed both of their lives in profound and unimaginable ways. Both provocative and timeless, this book is incredibly powerful and thought-provoking.
From Martha's list on proving there is life after death.
I grew up thinking that an afterlife was a pretty enough idea, but I was an agnostic who leaned toward skepticism. This book only caught my attention because the author had real-world credentials. Brian Weiss is a psychiatrist, an MD and PhD with degrees from Columbia and Yale, and the former head of psychiatry at Miami’s Mount Sinai, who arrived very reluctantly and unexpectedly to a practice of past life regression. I found his book intelligent and compelling, and there’s one detail that’s simply astounding –– If you’ve read the book, you know what I’m talking about! If he’s genuine,…
From Maryanne's list on convincing you there is probably an afterlife.
I encountered this book decades ago and it totally changed how I envisioned past lives and soul contracts.
Psychiatrist Brain Weiss was skeptical when one of his patients began remembering past-life traumas. However, the memories seemed to relate to her present-day nightmares and panic attacks. She began to channel messages from another realm, including messages for him, and he began to believe in the reality of past lives. This book provides compelling evidence that past-lives are very real.
From Ashley's list on a higher, broader perspective on loss and grief.
This book… oh, this book makes me so happy. I was given this to read by a good friend many years ago and it’s one that I recommend to everyone who’s on a soul-searching journey. Whether or not you believe in past lives, reincarnation, or karmic destiny, Weiss’ honest take as a highly reputable psychiatrist is one that will touch you and make you think. It’s a book that really makes you understand that we are all connected and this world is one giant tapestry.
From Colet's list on to read when you’re traveling in a far-off land.
