I loved the magical girl reminiscent transformations in this book mixed with a dark story. I’ve always had a fondness for the genre, and this book gave me a mix of Shugo Chara and Madoka Magica vibes. As a demisexual, I also really felt seen from all of the asexual spectrum representation in the main cast. From Denise's list on fantasy that anime lovers will enjoy.

Bloody Spade is an incredible, action-packed and anime-inspired urban fantasy with a magic system like you've never seen before. We have a host of queer characters to fall in love with, such as a pansexual cat-boy with a traumatic past, a scythe-wielding asexual girl, an aromantic wielder of fire, and a demisexual plant girl. It's also one of those books where it's so clear when reading this that a lot of love and dedication went into creating this story and the author's passion is simply contagious.
