Why read it?

I am partial to a soupçon of the paranormal in my psychological thriller, which I know isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I was gripped the whole time reading, but although I knew something shocking was coming, I had absolutely no idea what was going on until the final chapters.
The reveal at the end genuinely left me shaking. It is probably my favorite twist of all time. Outstanding.
From Charlotte's list on plot twists that will leave your jaw on the floor.
Sarah Pinborough made the leap from horror to thrillers and has hit it big with this incredible read. This was made into a popular Netflix series, and in this rare instance, the film remains true to the story told in the book.
With twists and turns, clever fast-paced writing, and a bit of sexiness to it, this book was also very influential in my switch from horror to erotic thrillers.
From Michael's list on fast-paced thriller books with romance, twists and turns, and clever writing.
If, like me, and like the White Queen in Alice through the Looking Glass, you can believe six impossible things before breakfast, then you will certainly love this book. What you think is going on—is not. This is a book that turns all your assumptions upside down. You won’t be able to predict the ending: it’s beyond anything you could have guessed. And the characters are complex, enigmatic, yet real. You’re in for a wild journey. Highly recommend.
From Sylvie's list on psychological manipulation.
This is simply the best book I’ve read in years. At first you’ll think it’s just a regular psychological thriller with an unreliable narrator like Gone Girl and The Woman in the Window, but trust me this is a true changeling book. And one of the best. It has an ending that will absolutely shock you and if you’re like me, you will completely freak out – but in a totally good way. We see Adele as a young woman and learn about her mysterious past, but nothing that is on the page prepares you for that whopper of…
From Michael's list on changelings and their friends.
Some of the most interesting psychological thriller and suspense novels have divisive endings, and Behind Her Eyes is definitely no exception. I found this novel to be compulsively readable and addictingly disturbing. Sarah Pinborough masterfully combines shocking plot points, supernatural elements, and dark twists that readers will not see coming.
From Danielle's list on psychological suspense and thrillers.
Two women become unlikely friends. Who can the reader really trust? The betrayed wife or the woman who is falling in love with her husband? I really enjoyed this intriguing, addictive thriller because it was beautifully written but also the concepts were highly unusual and inventive. It left me thinking about what exactly had happened long after the story ended.
From Caroline's list on psychological thrillers with toxic friendships.
A love triangle with a difference – this novel follows a married couple and the husband’s mistress but with added manipulation games unlike anything you’ve imagined. The fact there was a huge twist ending wasn’t a surprise as that’s how the book was marketed, but the twist itself was certainly an eye-opener and I didn’t guess what it was until I reached the shocking conclusion. This novel has since been adapted and is a Netflix series. (Also worth a watch – but I’d recommend reading the book first).
From Sam's list on psychological thrillers with a jaw-dropping twist.
