Book cover of The Star and the Strange Moon

C.W. Rose ❤️ loved this book because...

I really enjoyed this unique mashup of mystery, horror, dual-timeline, and romance. The prose is beautiful, and is a gorgeous story of finding your place in the world. It's also a story of obsession and how it can take over someone's life, and I found the characters to be well-written and fleshed out. And I was pleasantly surprised with the ending, and as a lover of HEAs, I was not disappointed.

My 2nd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Remember Me Tomorrow

C.W. Rose ❤️ loved this book because...

This is a story reminiscent of The Lake House, a movie which I'll never get sick of. This has mystery, romance, and BIPOC main characters, and I was immediately drawn in by the blurb. I wanted to keep turning the pages and unravel the mystery of Jay's disappearance with Aleeza. I loved that they get their HEA, and the twists and turns to get there kept me hooked.

What is this book about?

A missing student. A singular investigation. A new romance. Every bit of it is a mystery in a delightful novel of cosmic twists by the author of How to Win a Breakup.

East House is the oldest and least desirable dorm on campus, but it has a draw for lonely university freshman Aleeza Kassam: Jay Hoque, the hot and broody student who vanished from East House five months ago without a trace. It's irresistible to an aspiring investigative journalist like Aleeza.

But when she starts receiving texts from Jay, the mystery takes an unexpected turn. To put it mildly. His…

Book cover of Nine Tailed

C.W. Rose ❤️ loved this book because...

I'm a big sucker for mythologies of non-Western cultures, and the myth of the nine-tailed fox in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cultures always makes me take a second look. Throw that in with a real world and fantastical setting, a steamy romance, and a sassy, strong gumiho FMC, and I was sold!

Oceansong

By C.W. Rose,

Book cover of Oceansong

What is my book about?

Fish are mysteriously disappearing, starving the people in Angie Song’s Alaskan hometown. Angie, a snarky, guarded aspiring marine biologist and dock worker, enthusiastically joins the hunt to find out where the fish are gathering. When her family and the villagers discover that merfolk are responsible, they vow to destroy every last one. In the midst of the conflict, Angie faces off with a merman and fails to pull the trigger.

Inquisitive Mer-Prince Kaden is just as snarky as Angie, but he’s willing to talk and stop the brutal massacring of his people. The two form a cautious alliance to broker peace between the humans and mer before any more of them die.

Angie’s family becomes suspicious of her time near the water and threatens her future career. If the Mer-King and Queen learn of Kaden fleeing to the surface from an engagement he doesn’t want and falling for a landwalker, he’ll be exiled.

As tensions clash in this modern-day Romeo and Juliet meets The Little Mermaid, no one is safe in the desperate fight to control the sea’s resources. Despite the risks, Angie and Kaden’s forbidden relationship ignites. And as she learns about the mer’s mysterious world and the reason why the fish are gone, Angie starts to question who the true monster is, and where her loyalties lie. Taking the wrong side means choosing between family and her job, or the man she’s fallen for and the merfolk she’s come to respect—or losing it all.
