By Peter J. Biggar,

Why should I read it?

1 author picked Harold Raeburn as one of their favorite books, and they share why you should read it.

What is this book about?

Harold Raeburn was one of Scotland's greatest ever mountaineers, with a legacy of prized lines scattered far and wide across the Highlands.

In feats of extraordinary vitality, he made winter ascents of Tower Ridge, North-East Buttress and Crowberry Gully in four days, cycling from Fort William to Glencoe in between. His breathtaking ascent of Green Gully, cutting steps up near-vertical ice with a single axe, was doubtless the hardest ice climb anywhere at the time and was unsurpassed in difficulty in Scotland for nearly three decades. But perhaps Raeburn's finest achievement was the first winter ascent in 1920 of Observatory…

Don‘t forget about my book 😀

High Summer

By Chris Townsend,

Book cover of High Summer

What is my book about?

High Summer tells the story of the first continuous walk along the entire length of the Canadian Rockies. This trek, walked by Chris Townsend in 1988, was truly an adventurous wilderness journey, notably different in character from most thru-hikes undertaken and written about these days. High Summer is not an account of someone following a well-trodden path. For long stretches of this walk there was no path at all!

This new edition packs in many more photos than appeared in the first edition: ninety-eight black and white photos in the paperback, 105 colour photos in the ebook.
