Book description
Why read it?
4 authors picked That Time I Got Drunk And Saved A Demon as one of their favorite books. Why do they recommend it?
I bought it based solely on the title and wasn't expecting much...but oh man did the book deliver!
The writing style and author's voice made the book hard to put down. I had to know how the story turned out! The witty banter and world building was top tier. After I finished it I immediately bought the next book in the series.
I loved how different this fantasy rom-com was from anything I had read before picking it up. From the meet-cute to the epilogue, I adored all of it. I was shocked at first by the contemporary language and the modern world-building within a traditional fantasy setting.
The MFC was relatable, reacting to the crazy world around her as I’d imagine I would if I were taken on a wild adventure with a dragon shape-shifter. Funny, witty, steamy, and exciting. This book had it all.
From Caitriona's list on swoon-worthy that take you to a different world.
Cinnamon, the book’s curvy lead, embodies a take-charge heroine, and her narration throughout the book is hilarious. Even more than just a romance, this book is loaded with fantasy and swashbuckling adventure, during which Fallon can’t help but fall head over heels.
The banter between the leads is especially charming, the world-building is immersive without being tedious, and there was fun use of modern language in a historical setting. The spice was the cherry on top of this super fun read.
From Katherine's list on romance where the plus-sized heroine gets her man.
This book starts with the heroine stumbling home drunk after eating a lot of cheese at her village’s harvest festival. The irreverent tone continues as she rescues a man in the forest, discovers he’s a demon from another dimension and gets swept up in his quest to take down an evil witch.
The whole story is so much fun. Even when violence and destruction happen (along the lines of “half the city was destroyed”), the goofy nature of the book helped me move past it without taking it seriously. (I wasn't thinking too hard about the destruction, but some readers…
From Jane's list on romance set in a lighthearted, cozy fantasy world.
