I was introduced to Lucinda Riley's books via her Seven Sisters series. The Midnight Rose is an earlier, standalone novel but just as good with the same dual timeline structure. I love learning (in a relaxed way!) from the historical side of Lucinda's books.
Be warned, the ending to this book took me by surprise and I was somewhat shocked!
