Book cover of All Fours

Paige Harbison ❤️ loved this book because...

This book should be required reading for every woman--and every man who knows a woman. It's a fascinating examination of human frailty, relationship dynamics, expectations set upon us from others and ourselves, all while feeling like a deliciously indulgent fantasy.

Read it with caution, it may cause you to change your whole life.

The New York Times bestselling author returns with an irreverently sexy, tender, hilarious and surprising novel about a woman upending her life

My 2nd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Margo's Got Money Troubles

Paige Harbison ❤️ loved this book because...

While I feel like I've never read a book like this, I also feel like I can easily see what it could have been--and what it managed to steer clear of. I feel like the story of an unexpected, young pregnancy, money troubles, sex work, a troubled father has never been done more lovingly; plots with these ingredients too often going into a world I want no part of. A cold, bitter, nihilistic world of grief and pain. But this book reminds you that people who are struggling are PEOPLE. With friendships, and jokes, and wants, and desires. Everyone is so likable. It's so easy to hear about a person with a drug problem and dismiss them as different from you, but this book challenges you to see yourself and friendships and family in these characters and reconsider how you'd feel in Margo's shoes.

My 3rd favorite read in 2024

Book cover of Good Material

Paige Harbison ❤️ loved this book because...

I'm a huge anglophile, and I love Dolly's writing, so I knew I'd love this book. But if you'd told me I was going to read a story about a failing, male standup comic who just got dumped and can't let it go--I wouldn't think it was my thing. But I loved this character. I understood him, I wanted him to win, I loved walking the streets with him, I loved hanging out in his world, even though it wasn't his happiest time. Endearingly melodramatic like a funny friend who just got dumped.
