Book cover of As a Kite Falls

Brett Kahr ❤️ loved this book because...

In this extraordinarily honest and deeply brave book, Richard Tyler, a fit young actor and former musical theatre star, has written about his sudden shocking diagnosis of a rare form of blood cancer. With much courage, the author has described with full honesty how he suffered tremendously, how he had to endure unbearable physical treatments, and how he succeeded in recovering hugely. This amazingly inspiring memoir has brought tears to my eyes and I admire this gentleman hugely for having shared this experience and for advising us all how we might begin to prepare for such inevitabilities in our own lives and in the lives of those we love.

What is this book about?

We have become fixated on ascent in our lives: achieving more, being quicker, and rising up. But what if we are missing the richest life lessons by repressing the difficulties we experience? Both ascent and descent are vital in life. Yet, whilst we are educated on how best to ascend, it is rare we are supported as we descend. Instead, we are encouraged to hide those times from ourselves and others.

Richard's descent was epic. From playing lead roles on West-End stages to receiving a diagnosis of three months to live with a rare cancer. In this heartfelt and moving…

Book cover of The Strength of Love

Brett Kahr ❤️ loved this book because...

Kate Garraway, one of the United Kingdom's leading television presenters, has suffered hugely during the Covid pandemic, owing to the fact that her middle-aged husband Derek Draper became extremely unwell and spent months and months in hospital. In this unbelievably frank and truly touching book, the author has explained how she and her family have had to cope with this deeply heartbreaking family trauma. Every single reader will be hugely impressed by Ms. Garraway's unbelievably inspiring emotional fortitude, and I believe that we all have a very great deal to learn from this extraordinary human being.

Book cover of Sitting Kills, Moving Heals

Brett Kahr ❤️ loved this book because...

Dr. Joan Vernikos, a brilliant scientist at N.A.S.A. who has worked extensively with some of the world's most famous astronauts, has undertaken a very important study about the deadly impact of spending too many hours seated at our desks. Although most healthcare professionals recommend hours and hours of intensive exercise, Dr. Vernikos has examined the tremendous long-term medical benefits of regular, light movement (non-intense exercise) throughout the day. This short, but brilliant, book could well become a veritable template of exercise and healthcare in decades to come.

What is this book about?

Your chair is killing you! A wake-up call to sedentary Americans.

This groundbreaking new medical work demonstrates how modern sedentary lifestyles contribute to poor health, obesity, and diabetes, and how health can be dramatically improved by continuous, low-intensity, movement that challenges the force of gravity. Citing her original NASA research on how weightlessness weakens astronauts' muscles, bones, and overall health, the author presents a simple and effective plan for maintaining good health throughout life by developing new lifestyle habits of frequent gravity-challenging movement. Written for everyone who spends most of their lives sitting in chairs, at desks, and in cars,…

Who's Been Sleeping in Your Head: The Secret World of Sexual Fantasies

By Brett Kahr,

Book cover of Who's Been Sleeping in Your Head: The Secret World of Sexual Fantasies

What is my book about?

Based upon a transatlantic study of the private sexual fantasies of over 20,000 British and American adults (aged eighteen and older), this book investigates the deep psychological underbelly of the erotic thoughts of human beings. A very experienced psychotherapist and psychologist, Professor Brett Kahr has examined not only the nature of sexual fantasies (both coital fantasies and masturbatory fantasies) but, also, the deep-seated origins of these private mental thoughts, often based upon traumatic, early-life experiences. For those individuals whose secret sexual preoccupations might have become a source of distress within one's personal intimate relationships or, indeed, within one's private life, Kahr's book offers an opportunity to understand this little-discussed part of the human mind and might thus help those in distress to seek proper psychological treatment.
