- Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2013I choose this rating because I received the product in a timely manner and in excellent condition.
Honestly I have always been intrigued by Archeology, History, etc... I have been watching all the documentaries by Dr. Zahii Hawass for years. When I received this book and opened it to the first page I had tingly feelings all through me and I read it all at once. Dr. Zahii Hawass is too cool! Just to think thousands of years ago and we are able to see and understand through others dedication and difficult work. I just wish people would leave ancient artifacts and buildings alone and leave them to the professionals. I wish I was able to read Cartophogrophy, Hieroglyphics.
How do we know where we are going if we do not know where we have been?
Awesome!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2009I originally borrowed this book from the local library to read to my 9 year old daughter but it proved to be so interesting I bought a copy to reread to her from time to time. This is a great introduction to modern Egyptology by Egypt's renowned archaeologist. I would recommend getting this book for anyone you know who is seriously interested in studying ancient Egypt.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2016Hawass has a sense of humor indeed!! I feel like he's speaking directly to me, as he illustrates the events that have plagued people for decades, based on rumors of curses placed by Egyptian Pharaohs.

The curse of the pharaohs is a truly an amazing book, this spine tingling legend also known as the mummys curse, warns that anyone who disturbs the resting place of the ancient egyptians will be haunted by their spirits their has been mysteries, illnesses and even death been blamed on the dreaded curse, egyptian archaeologist Dr Zahi Hawass is the storyteller behind this captivating book he has lived through countless hair-raising adventures while he has been exploring the tombs of egypt, in this book he shares discoveries and recounts with what he calls the magic of ancient egypt,he is also intriged by the backround of the curse of King Tuts tomb in 1922,in this book it tells you about his adventures, and the truth about the curse and did the egyptians believe about curses and magic, it also shows you how a mummy was prepared and the egyptian always believed that there was life after death, but i have to say there is a story in this book that i did enjoy was the real egyptian curses, this book is 144 pages long and is truly and very interesting book if you are into reading about egypt and the history then i would recommend you read this book it is great history to read i loved it.
