One, it cannot be read as a standalone. One can try, but there are so many details set from the previous reads that would be lost to someone reading this as their introduction to the series. Two, the start is a little slow. It does eventually pick up, but I found myself slogging through the first chapters until our main characters started engaging.Other than that, this was an intense read that will have romantic suspense readers riveted once the action and spice got going.

Sophia, the teen that was abducted in the first two stories (Better to See You & Sure of One) is a grown woman now, and now on an undercover op with the man who was formerly her bodyguard after she was recovered. They're posing as a married couple to infiltrate a powerful cartel. This cartel not only has a very awful tie to her past, but someone in it may not truly be as entrenched in it as usual. Can Sophia and Fisher navigate their growing feelings, their op, and dealing with her very upset father?

When Fisher's requested for an op and it's with someone from his past, he's not sure if he's the right guy for the job, especially when he realizes the girl who had once been his charge is no longer a teen, but now a grown woman, a smart, intelligent and skilled woman. Posing as a married couple is going to test his will in so many ways.

I love the way this trilogy is wrapped up, with Sophia as an adult now, a fierce, awesome operative. And I'm so glad she is paired with someone her equal, someone who, after a minute, accepted her for her amazingness, and loved her equally for it. They went at a slow burn pace as they resisted then figured it out, a bit too slow burn for my tastes, but once they gave in, whew! I'm going to miss this world, hopefully the author will give us glimpses of all the couples in future writing.

Isabel Jolie's Cloak of Red is fascinating, full of intrigue, sexy times and romantic suspense! I loved Sophia and Fisher/Damien from the very beginning, their behavior and attitudes were in line with their assignments and not at all hollywood-esque.

Sophia has just recently moved over from FBI analyst to CIA field work and has been teamed up with Fisher/Damien who it turns out she used to know from an earlier time in her life. I really enjoyed reading as she worked to get Gemma's phone number, and had to act as though she was in love with Fisher/Damien.

I was on the edge of my seat as Fisher/Damien started spending more time with Gemma's husband Rafael in what could be considered dangerous skiing activities (heli-skiing?) Sophia's true reaction when Fisher/Damien got hurt is very indicative of how fast they're falling for each other, even though this is just supposed to be an assignment.

Rafael is very much a playboy type of guy, and doesn’t seem to be attached to his fathers business, so it is becoming more and more uncomfortable for Sophia and Fisher/Damien when he is encouraging swinger-type behaviour, and neither of them are into that. Is Fisher/Damien hurting their cover every time he jerks Sophia up to hurry her back to their room when Gemma and Rafael start encouraging more sexually liberal activities?

Cloak of Red comes quickly to a head when Sophia disappears on what is supposed to be some sort of surprise trip with Gemma, and neither the FBI, ARROW, or CIA trackers can locate her. As a result of occurrences in her past, the CIA has Fisher/Damien notify Sophia's father immediately that she is missing rather than wait, and her father sees through Fisher's facade and wants to beat the heck out of him.

This, and the last few chapters were the only areas that felt slightly rushed to me. I need more of an answer as to what happens with Rafael and Gemma, and I'm very hopeful that this was just some kind of quicky cliffhanger and both couples will re-appear in Isabel Jolie's upcoming Novel, Stolen Beauty.

What I do know is that I'll definitely be going through Ms. Jolie's backstock to find the beginning of Sophia's story! Her writing is riveting, and I definitely didn't need another book to avoid being lost here, I just feel the need to answer all the questions for my own sake! Plus, it's another opportunity to add more of her work to my TBR!

What will happen to Sophia and Fisher's relationship - especially after her father finds out? I liked this book and all the twists.

Cloak of Red is a wonderful read. You may want to read the first two books in the Arrow Tactical series as well as The Wolf trilogy or you may be a little lost with who Sophia is. Sophia is all grown up and ready for her first mission little did she know she would be partnered with someone from her past. Fisher gets the job done and has watched Sophia grow. This is one of those age gaps romances you will fall hard for as Sophia and Fisher grow closer and closer. Fake marriage turns into real love as Sophia and Fisher work to come out on top in their mission. I love how they work together. There is this connection you feel all the way through. I love this author, she gets the balance right to make an exciting read. Characters from books 1 & 2 in the series also crop up in this one so there is continuity , I think that Fisher may find adding to his family at almost 50 hard going, but then, these characters are all super heroes!
