- Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2022This is a new family favorite. One of those charming classic tales for all ages.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2022This was one of my favorite books as a child. I just got it for my 4 year old and they absolutely love it. It's imaginative and fun. There are so many little details in the pictures that every time I read it I find something new. It just arrived yesterday and I've already read it to my 4 year old 6 times.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2015So, we picked up maybe a dozen books for a 3 year old nephew that was staying with us for a long weekend. Unfortunately, about 10 of them never got any attention because he insisted upon this book every time after reading it the first night! Any attempt to open another would get met with a very insistent "TADPOLE!!" so I probably could recite this one from memory at this point. However, though reading the same book over and over can be annoying, it is a cute story and obviously a sign that kids get a kick out of it. We did send it home with him, so I'm sure by now his parents are thanking us for that :).
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2010I had checked this out from the library for my 5 year old son. He loved it so much I bought it and another book by this author. It is funny and the illustrations are great. The ending is great and creates another dilema to be solved but this time it ignites the child's imagination.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2013I actually purchases this book to give to the library after we lost their copy. We ended up finding it the day it was delivered so we were able to keep it. Such a great story. My daughter chooses this book a lot for her bedtime story. Definitely recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2021My second grade class used to love this book. There are so many follow up projects you can do. I was excited that my granddaughter also loved it

1.0 out of 5 stars a very poor rewriting of the original
Agree with previous poster, a very poor rewriting of the original, and I don't care for the illustrations at all. Off to find a copy of the original.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor rewriting
Beware this is a poor rewriting of the original.

4.0 out of 5 stars The original was better
I didn't realize this wasn't his original version. He updated this one. The original was much better in my opinion. There were more funny clues in the pictures in the original version. In this one, the jokes are more blatant. I used this book in school for various reading comprehension strategies. The original suited my needs better. I wanted an additional copy but they aren't the same.
